Employers are responsible for starting the procedures that allow workers to immigrate to Yukon under the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) or as Temporary Foreign Workers. Please note that Government of Yukon does not find or recruit foreign workers for Yukon employers - employers are responsible for locating their own workers. Some employers have had success with recruitment in foreign countries and others have found new workers though family contact with current workers.
Temporary foreign workers enter Canada to work temporarily to help Canadians address skill shortages. The Temporary Foreign Worker program is facilitated by two different departments of the federal government: Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

A key eligibility requirement for hiring a foreign worker is to obtain a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) from Service Canada - unless the work category is exempt, you will need an LMO.

As an employer, you must apply for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) before you can hire a foreign worker or get pre-approval to hire a large number of workers.
A positive Labour Market Opinion will show that there is a need for the foreign worker to fill the job you offer and that there is no Canadian worker available to do the job.
