Q: I would like to immigrate to Yukon, but I do not have an employer or a job offer. Can I still apply to the Yukon Nominee Program?

A: No. Individuals who wish to immigrate to Yukon but do not have job offer or employment with an approved Yukon employer may contact Citizenship & Immigration Canada to apply for immigration.

Q: Can an individual who is considered a refugee apply under humanitarian grounds to the Yukon Nominee Program?

A: The Yukon Nominee Program is an economic program to address skill shortages where training, education and experience have been demonstrated, with the potential employee occupational ready. It is not the mandate of the Yukon Nominee Program to interfere with the federal Citizenship & Immigration Canada refugee claim, appeal or removal process.

Q: As a Nominee can I move my spouse and family to Yukon?

A: Yes, your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children under the age of 18 may accompany you, if approved by Citizenship & Immigration Canada.

Q: Who provides health care in Yukon?

A: The Yukon Health Care Insurance plan provides coverage to Yukon permanent residents for medically required hospital and medical services, and certain dental-surgical procedures. The cost of providing these services to Yukoners is met through the general revenues of the territory - there are no premiums. Some employers provide additional benefits, such as coverage for eyeglasses and dental care

Q: I am an employer and need additional workers. Will Yukon Government recruit foreign workers on my behalf?

A: No. Employers are responsible for locating their own workers. Some employers have had success with recruitment in foreign countries and others have found new workers though family contact with current workers.
