Settlement services are designed to help newcomers to Canada adjust to their new life.

In Yukon, settlement services are provided by the Carrefour d’immigration Crossroad Yukon.

They are there to help newcomers with all their needs during the process of settling into the new community. Take advantage of services such as orientation, translation, interpretation, referral to community resources, counseling, general information and employment-related services.

AFY can help you:

  • Find permanent housing
  • Learn about shopping for clothes, food, and household items
  • Register your children in school
  • Register for a Yukon Health card
  • Obtain a driver’s license
  • Answer questions you have about living in the Yukon
  • Learn about Canada…

Please note: settlement services are NOT for Canadian citizens or Refugee claimants.

To be eligible for settlement services, a client must be:

  • a permanent resident of Canada; or
  • an individual who has been allowed to remain here and to whom CIC intends to grant permanent resident status; or
  • a person who has been deemed as a protected person in Canada

While these services are mainly for newcomers, other eligible immigrants may also qualify, regardless of how long they have been in Canada. They may still need help in adapting to Canadian society and integrating into the community.
